Good news for all Latvian figure skating fans! Already next week an international figure skating competition "ISU Volvo Open Cup 20th" will take place in Riga at the Volvo Sports Centre in Imanta (Jurmalas Gatve 78D). Expect to see some well known names as well as our own local ones, most notably Alina Fjodorova who finished 16th in the 2012 European championships. The most notorious names are within the male senior category: Denis Ten (KAZ) - 7th at Worlds 2012, both his programs this year have been choreographed by Stéphane Lambiel Misha Ge (UZB) - 19th at Worlds 2012 Kim Lucine (MON) - 23rd at Worlds 2012 Javier Raya (ESP) - 24th at Worlds 2012 Paul Parkinson (ITA) - 1st place at Italian Nationals 2013 Romain Ponsart (FRA) - 3rd at French Nationals 2012 Also expect an interesting competition in the ladies category - Zijun Li (CHN), Sonia Lafuente (ESP) and, as mentioned previously, our very own figure skating star Alina Fjodorova will all compete for the highest places. From the city centre: Take train from Riga main train station and buy ticket till station "Imanta". Any train that goes in the direction of Jurmala will do (Rīga-Sloka, Rīga-Tukums1, Rīga-Tukums2, Rīga-Ķemeri). Bus nr. 4, direction "Abrenes iela-Piņķi" till bus stop "Poliklīnika", Tram nr. 4 from stop "13. Janvāra iela", direction "Imanta-Centrāltirgus" till tram stop "Dammes iela".
